Histological studies are of the most adequate way to determine the physiological condition of fish organs. The present research was carried out in order to conduct a qualitative evaluation of the growth and development of the reproductive system of three sturgeon species (Acipenser persicus, Acipenser gueldenstaedti, and Huso huso). In this evaluation two histological approaches, gonadectomy and biopsy, were employed. The studied sturgeons consisted of 58 one, two and six years old reared juveniles. Some 60% of the one-year-old Huso huso were of unknown sex, 20% were previtellogic females and 20% of the males were in the early stage of spermatogenesis. On the other hand 50% of the one-year-old Acipenser persicus were also of unknown sex, 30% premature females and 20% premature males. Some 30% of two-year-old Huso huso were of unknown sex, 40% premature females and 10% of the females were in stage I of sexual maturity and 10% were premature males. Among the six-year-old specimens, 60% o.....

In the present research the impact of white light with intensity of 3000 -5000 Lin( on the growth of Scenedesmus brevispina was studied. This species was exposed to light treatment of 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500 and 5000 Lux, after being sampled and purified. In each single treatment protein, dried weight, chlrophyll, carotenoids and sugar were measured. The obtained results revealed that among the employed treatments, 4500 Lux treatment has had the best effect on increase of sugar, protein, pigments and dried weight in coenobium scale. About the other treatment certain conclusion could not be drawn. For example in 3500 Lux treatment, the lowest impact was observed with respect to chlrophyll, protein and sugar, while carotenoids was effected very little in 3000 Lux treatment......

Cracker is popular snack food in the Asian countries and its marked is expanding in the western countries. The conducted experiments in this project (1997) amied to achieve a basic methods for producing cracker from kilka by adopting some of the methods implemented in sausage production technology. The kilka, comprised of three clupeid species, were washed 2 - 3 times with cold saltwater (3%), minced and mixed with flour, water, eggs, flavour and spices. The obtained dough was shaped, cooked, sliced, then dried and packed......

During this study, which was carried out from April 1994 to March 1995, 1640 units of kilka were examined in order to determine, whether they were infected by zoonotic parasites. The obtained parasites were comprised of Contracaecum sp. larva, Anisakis sp. larva and immature Corynosoma strumosum. None of the specimens, belonging to three different species, were mature and therefore could easily continue their life cycle in the human body if ingested with the infected fish. The incidence and intensity of the infection caused by these parasites were also studied and issues related to human health are also discussed in this paper.

Six male lobster and six female lobsters weighing 250-300 gr were studied. The salinity of the water ranged between 37±0.1ppt and 12±0.1ppt at the beginning and the end of the experiment respectively. During the study period, lasting for 36 days, temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen were kept almost at the same level. At salinity of 25 ppt some swelling and decrease in desire for food and in movement were observed. The first cases of mortality occured at slainity of 16 ppt and finally the three remaining male lobsters perished at salinity of 12 ppt. Generally, under the above mentioned conditions, the male lobster: exhibited better reactions and endurance than the females.

Sixtyfive units of sobur (Tenualosa ilisha) with ripe ovaries were examined at 15 allocated stations. The length of fishes ranged from 328 to 500 mm and were caught by drifting gill nets (in few cases by fixed gill nets) in Khuozestan's waters (coastal area, Bahmanshir, Arvand, Karoon and Dez rivers). Ovaries were preserved and transferred to the lab taking the available standard methods into account before estimating the fecundity. The lowest and the highest absolute fecundity were 374892 and 1954144 in samples with total lenght of 380 and 500 mm respectively. Minimum relative fecundity was 514 and the maximum was 1649 in fishes with 430 and 328 mm of length respectively. Minimum and maximum relative somatic fecundity were 581 and 1836 observed in fishes with total length of 430 and 328 mm respectively. The highest correlation was observed between absolute fecundity and girth, but the lowest negative correlation was observed between relative fecundity and length. Correlation between fecundity and several biological characters was studied and the highest multiple regression was observed between fecundity and gonad weight, GSI, ovadiameter and age.

Tiger Shrimp Migration in the Iranian Seashore of Persian Gulf

One of the most characteristic behaviour of cruastaceans is the seasonal as well as daily migrations which is influenced by light intensity, temperature and Co2concentration. Other surveys have indicated that light intensity has the greatest effect on their migration. The Persian Gulf is situated in the northwestern-southeastern direction which cause uneven absorbtion of solar energy explaining migratory behaviour of tiger shrimp. The abundance area of tiger shrimp lies between Naiband Bay in the south and Baherkansere in the north. Studying the fluctuations of light intensity in different depths which effect some biological characteristics of shrimp shows that 1 - Light intensity and temperature are the main factors, which result the vertical migration of the shrimp. 2 - Shrimp migration in warm and cold seasons is mainly due to temperature difference between northern and southern part of the Persian Gulf 3 - Light intensity and temperature are also the main factors which affect shrimps migration and uneven shrimp density in different depths of water, so that in warm and cold seasons the highest shrimp density is seen in depth more than 30 meters and in moderate seasons (fall and spring) shrimp density in deep area decreases greatly.

In order to study the diversity of the bivalves, in each cruise the Rishness, Evenness and Diversity indexes were calculated. After each cruise the diversity of the stations were compared to the others using Shannon-Wiever Index. Furthermore the physichal and chemical factors of the water in each cruise, such as salinity, temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen in different depths, were also comparatively studied. Diversity of the bivalves was found to be higher in July than in May and November. It seems that density and diversity of bivalves in the Chabahar Bay are influenced by environmental changes caused by the Indian Ocean southwest summer monsoon.
