An investigation of the transference of five heavy metals, Zinc, Cobalt, mercury, lead and cadmium to the edible portions of commercially valued fish species Esox lucius (3-7 years) Carassius auratus (3 - 6 years) Cyprinus carpio (3 - 8 years) Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (1 - 3 years) was conducted. The concentration of Zn, Co, Pb, and Cd were measured using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and Hg with Flameless Atomic Absorption using cold mercury vapour. Average accumulated levels of Zn, Cd, Co, Pb and Hg in the muscle tissue of the fishes under survey were 17.28 ± 4.80 ppm, 0.025 ± 0.021 ppm, 0.693 ± 0.48 ppm and 1.04 ± 0.60 ppm of dry weight (X STD) respectively. Detected concentrations at present study do not exceed from tolerance levels based on WHO standards, except in six year old pike specimens sampled in an area exposed to industrial effluents which tend to reach critical levels. Thus this study shows that for the conservation of the Anzali Lagoon and the prote.....

One year study was carried out to understand the sturgeon fish’s migration to Gorganrud & Tajan Rivers from September 1993. Two different catching stations were selected in each river with gillnetting method. The fish were assessed biometrically, labelled and released afterwards the catching was done during Autumn and Spring and no fish was captured in Autumn, but 28 fishes (10 fishes of Acipenser stellatus + 15 fishes of Acipenser persicus + 3 fishes of Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) in Gorganrud and 11 fishes (2 fishes of Acipenser persicus + 9 fishes of Acipenser stellatus) were caught during the catching period, in spring. The result showed that among the labelled fishes at the station NO. 1 in Gorganrud, only 2 labelled fishes were recaptured in the Station No.2 (8 kilometers away from each other). The rest and all the labelled fishes in Tajan River were caught before reaching to the station No.2 by unauthorized fishermen. The main obstacles to sturgeon fish’s migration in bot.....

In the recent years the Kilka fishing in Iranian coastal waters boosted rapidly. The rich stock of Kilka has provided the possibility of apt exploitation. Among the three Kilka species, dwelling in the Caspian Sea, 90% of Iran's catch consists of Clupeonella engrauliformis. Analyses of Data show that the sex ratio varies widely with the change of season. In autumn the spawning reaches to the peak and the female population declines in catching. The oil fat content and intensity of feeding in both sexes did not reveal significant differences. Average size range is 194.91mm in summer und 97.97mm in winter. Length frequency in both sexes varies from 100 to 110mm, but the female size range changes are wider. Mean weight of Anchovy Kilka is 7.84g in spring and 5.92g in winter. The research also shows that in winter large size Kilka are distributed at the deepest area of the sea. Therefore, it is suggested that to catch the Kilka, fishing operation should be done at deeper depth......

In This study it was prepared about 100 individual pearl oyster in average (D.V.M) 21-60 mm of Nakhiloo, and after Cutting byssus gland, in the laboratory the number and time of their attach to substrata were studied. It was considered that there was a significant difference between times (6 hours in the first observation and 13 hour in the second) and the number of attached oyster to substrata in the preliminary study. Also the oysters with height were more attached to substrata......

On two consecutive culturing period, the Caspian sea Bream fingerling average individual weight 30g stocked in a fish pond at the rate of 3000 unit per ha to rear through mono-culture method. Also in the other test carp pond fish comprised of 70% bream, 20% silver carp and 10% grass carp totally 4000 unit per ha Stocked to examine poly-culturing with bream species. The test replicated in second year by the same manner but the only difference was the weight of stocked bream fries which were 4g on average. Chemical fertilizer and chicken manure applied as warm water fish culturing technique demand. Carp grow out feed pellet supplemented to the ponds. Fish health, water quality and growth rate monitored. The minimum water temperature were 9 ֯C and maximum 33 ֯C recorded. Dissolved O2 = 5-7 mg/l, pH = 7-8.62 in the first year by mono-culturing method the bream achieved 200 gr by species on average. But with poly-culture system the bream gained 250g weight. Also individual species reached.....

A survey was carried out on parasitic infection of fishes of Anzali lagoon (Basin of the Caspian Sea, Iran) in this survey, three species of genus Caryophyllaeus including C. fimbriceps, C. laticeps and C. brachycollis were isolated from Common carp and Bream. The infection rate of Common carp with these three parasites and Bream with C. fimbriceps were 38 and 28 percent, respectively. The infection rate of these fishes varied depending on size, season and various station. C. laticeps and C. brachycollis were reported for the first time in Iran......

Monthly samples of the bivalve Pinctada fucata were collected within one year (1995-96) in the north-eastern (Nakhiloo, Hendurabi and Lavan) of the Persian Gulf. The objective of this study was hydrocarbons quality survey. Thy above regions are natural habitant of pearl oyster (P.fucata). The primary sampling showed that pearl oyster stocks decreased in Lavan and Hendurabi regions, therefore the regions were selected as experimental stations. The oil hydrocarbons were measured in water (surface and depth), sediment and bivalves. The result indicated that in the north of Lavan, due to few currents of water hydrocarbons' concentration was more than north eastern part of Lavan, Hendurabi and Nakhiloo regions and in the, Nakhiloo region, in which hydrocarbons were less than studied stations, the bivalve size were larger......
